Period factor doesn’t work for SNP Optimizer

Hi Expert

We have a supply chain of move material X from Plant A to Plant B via movement STR/STO.

We use SNP Optimizer to create STR.

The SNP book is in Monthly bucket, we have demand (FA) released to SNP book at the Middle of Monthly bucket (e.g. Jan 16, 2015).

Our expectation is that SNP Optimizer run, and create STR in the middle of the bucket as well. However the STR is created in the beginning of the bucket. (e.g. Jan 1st, 2015)

We set Period factor to 0.5 in MAT/LOC and TL , and it looks Period factor doesn’t work with SNP Optimizer.

I tried the Bucket Offset with1, 00 and 0.5, it also doesn’t change STR result.

Could anyone help on this , we want SNP Optimizer to create the STR in the middle of the bucket.

Thx James

    Hello James,

The SNP optimizer doesnt work in the way you are expecting. First it determine the exact availability date of your receipt. then its calculate the rounding limit based on the length of the bucket and your bucket offset value. If the availability date falls at or before the rounding limit, the receipt is available at the start of the bucket. If not, it is available at the start of the next bucket.

So, whatever value you maintain as bucket-offset, the receipt date falls at the beginning of a bucket. Please let us know if any clarification needed.

One more thing, as Rupesh mentioned, you maintain bucket off-set value in the optimizer profile. but if you maintain this value in the PPM as well (for pln ord creation), then the value mentioned in the PPM over-write the value in the optimizer profile.

    Thanks,

    Satyajit

    Hi james,

SNP Optimizer does not consider Period Factor. you will have to use the bucket offset.

    Hello,

In SNP the Period Factor is only used by the Heuristic Functions, the Optimizer uses the Bucket Offset instead.
