ECC system slowness for critical background jobs

hi All, We have some typical concerns regarding job slowness issue with our ECC systems. In our landscape Primary node(DB+CI) is in one location with 3 app servers, failover node(DB+CI) in at other location with 3 apps server. We had raised an OSS few months back where SAP says typical typical respone time between app to CI should be between .3 to .7 ms.When checked we found ping response of app servers where the CI is fally between .3 to .7 ms where job runs fine Whereas ping response time of the other 3 apps server to CI located in the different datacentre is around 6-10 ms nd usually business reports job slowness. Same happens when the CI failover to secondary node, then the response time improves for the earlier apps servers, whereas degrades for the remaing 3 falling in different datacentre. We dont have complains from end users though. Our concern is customer don't agrrees to this and asked a reference SAP doc/Notes where this .3 ms to .7 ms recommended value is mentioned, whic I am not able to find. I went to these notes but couldnt find anything substantial. 164102 Network load between application servers + front end 161053 Using SAPGUI in WAN 26417  SAPGUI resources 578118 Long response times on the SAP GUI 679918 The front-end network time Can any of you throw more insigt to our scenarion typically related to critical job slowness. Hi Vicky

1. On your ECC system all background jobs are running in CI or 3 App Servers or all instance?

Have to created the background job load balancing and define the three app severs(Not on CI+DB)?

2. All the CI+DB & 3 app sever are connected in the same or different subnet ? All the SAP instance network speed?

Hi Vicky,

I am not surprised that you are seeing slow response times running on the application servers in the second data centre.  It is recommended that the app servers are as physically close to the CI and DB as possible, preferably within the same server rack.  Until you do that, you are going to see lots of issues with performance.
