Any method to take compressed backup in SAP level?

Dear All,

Our environment has SQL server 2008 R2 SP1 database, with Windows OS 2008 and ECC .0 EHP 3 with SAP_BASIS in 700 SP 17 level.

I would like to take a compressed backup in SAP level and I could not able to find any option to do that in db02 - SAP GUI. Is there any option to perform it in SAP level?

Thanks & Regards.

Hi Malar

Find a check box for Compression in DB13 "Action Parameters" Tab, section called Backup Perameters. enable check box to compress database while backing up.

Hi Malar

1. If your DB is not compressed, you can perform the DB level compression in MS Sql 2008 R2 DB by using the SAP Note

1488135 - Database compression for SQL Server

2.From MS Sql MMC you can do the DB backup as .bak file and then do the further more compression using Win Zip or WinRAR utility.

Hi,

you can set the "Backup Compression Default" option to ensure that all backups that do NOT have a compression clause (as the one from DB13) gets compressed.

You can set it by running

exec sp_configure 'backup compression default', 1

reconfigure with override
