Is it recommended to change the domain AUFUSER4?

Hello experts,

My requirement is to increase the length of the field 'AUFK-USER4' from CURR 12 to CURR 16. I have created a 'Z' data element 'Z_AUFUSER4' and changed its domain to CURR16(problem was solved here). When the users are trying to update this field from different interfaces using standard Function Modules, they are getting errors as the structure (BAPI2075_2) used there is having a field 'estimated_cost' with data element AUFUSER4(curr 11). So, it is recommended to change the characters of domain AUFUSER4 to 16, so that where ever they are using if will be in sync with length 16?

I know you already changed the length of AUFK-USER4 and that will not answer your initial requirement, but unfortunately it is not recommended to change the length of the user fields in AUFK.

A where-used on data element AUFUSER4 showed me 105 hits, so that's a lot of possible consequences.

Here is an explanation from Change Individual Master Data Fields - Internal Orders - SAP Library

    1. Define your own data element in the Data Dictionary. It requires the same data type and field length as the matching data element provided by SAP.

The data type and field length MUST be the same as those for the data element provided by SAP. If they are not, data conversion is not triggered when you update to a new release.
