How do you choose CPU model for SAP DB&DI?

Hi experts,

I am choosing CPU model for SAP application servers. I do some research and it seems that I should add as many cores as possible for DB, ex: E5-2697 v2@2.7GHz, and use less cores per CPU and cost effective for application servers, ex: E5-2680 v2@2.7GHz, right?

I decide to buy 20 * E5-2680v3@2.5GHz for my 10 application servers or because SAP application is running single thread most of the time, should i buy high clock rate CPU such as E5-2687W v3@3.1GHz instead. Any opinions would be appreciated.
