I have AO version 1.4.8. Launching Query Designer from AO worked before installing SAP GUI for Windows 740 and Query Designer BI AddOn based on 7.40 SP0 Revision 739. Now that the new SAP GUI/Query Designer is installed...under settings the option Show "Launch Query Designer" in Tools Group is greyed out so I can not check it.
I did have SAP GUI 7.30 Patch 9. Query Designer BI AddOn based on 7.30 SP3 Revision 699 and was able to check it...and it worked.
Anybody having issues with this combo?
Kind regards,
Kelly
Hi Kelly,
Please try this registry setting. I found it in note#1921901.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\AdvanceAnalysis\Settings\DataSource
IgnoreQueryDesignerVersionCheck = True
We had the same problem after 74 GUI install and we were on a lower version of AO 1.4.7.

Heather

Just FYI: It was solved by an SAP Incident. This is a bug and will be solved with AO 1.4 SP13 and a SAP Note 2178327 which needs to be applied to SAP BW.

We had the same issue, which was solved with AO 1.4 SP11. But now Query Designer does not start when connected directly to SAP BW. When using the BIP then the Query Designer opens.
We opened an incident with SAP, but no solution yet.
Do you experience the same behavior?

Michael

Hi Michael,
We had a problem where we would click on the Launch button but nothing would happen - no messages, nothing. We discovered our SAP Log on Pad was missing an instance number for the system. We corrected that on the "ini" file, and the button would start the Query Designer afterwards.
Hi Kelly Stone,
This issue is solved with SP11. Please follow the below Note

Hi Kelly,
Just to complement the 's information, Analysis for Office 1.4.11 is planned to be delivered on CW 10, 2015 according to the SAP note 1518359.
Thanks,
Diego Ferrary
Hi Kelly,
As you can see on the note : "SP Patch Level" is not available or the information about which Support Package contains the correction is missing". This described that it will probably be delivered on the SP 11.
During that you can check the SAP note 1921901 and use the setting DataSource/IgnoreQueryDesignerVersionCheck to open the query designer.
Thanks,
Diego Ferrary
Hi Kelly,
This issue seems to be related with the installation.
You probably made an upgrade from the version 1.3.x to the version 1.4.x without unistall the AO. Once you upgrade from 1.3.x to 1.4.x the Analysis for Office you will not receive the features from 1.4.
My suggestion is to unistall the entire AO and install again the latest version of 1.4.
You can also check the below setting. Set on the workstation to true:
Path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\AdvancedAnalysis\Settings\DataSource
Registry: EnableResetDataSource= true or false
Kind regards,
Diego Ferrary

It was working for me in 1.4.9 and SAP Gui 740
One thing I recommend checking - if it is not working for you - as I had a similar issue in the past (pre SAP Gui 74) is downloading a SAP Gui Patch - in the past on the Software Distribution Center I found a Gui patch for "Business Explorer" - could you check there? It has been a while so I am totally basing this answer on my memory.

Hi Kelly - the only thing I can recommend now is creating a log (using the Support setting) and you can either attach it here or use it to create a SAP incident - see How to record relevant data on LOG file to speed up support process - Business Intelligence (Busines...
