MRP generated STR's

Hi,

If I have PIRs for 10.2014, 11.2014 and 12.2014. I run MRP in 10.2014, it creates PRs (STRs) against each PIR for the month. They don't convert those MRP generated STRs to STOs and create them manually to fulfill plant requirement. Stock builds up. then it's sold off. plant stock comes down again. I run MRP again in 11.2014 with 11, 12 and 01.2015 (10.2014 is already there still as LLSF PIR), MRP again puts up STR (PR) against 10.2014 PIR. How do I deal with this? This shouldnt happen

It would be great if someone could explain all this to me.

Thanks.

Hi Bilal,

As per my understanding, though you have PIR for the month of Oct.2014 which generated PR's(STR's) after MRP run, but again as you said STR/ STO has been created manually to fullfill the plant requirement, made the stocks and sold off. That means it is clear that PIR quantity has not been processed in terms of STR/STO and MIGO to get the Stocks to come in yet, hence requirement is still there from PIR end, So system is looking for the demand which is falling in Oct and giving you the STR's.during the MRP run.

Can you also provide the Procurement type and strategy group of that material.

Thanks & Regards

But the STRs created by MRP (which made planned orders on the respective manufacturing plants) were for stock and stock was in fact manufactured by the producing plant and sent to the requesting plants, shouldnt it be settled? But then it was sold off too before the next MRPrun.

What is the best praxctice and way to handle this when a STR is made on the requesting plant and planned order on the producing plant? use that STR and planned order for production and STO? then what after it is sold off? The PIR would still be there in MD62 and when MRP runs again, it'll pick it up...or not since the STR was closed and Planned order was converted?

procurement type is special procurement F and from a different plant that produces the goods (z). strategy 10.

Hi Bilal,

Let me try to explain the approach in the following way:

Asuming that there are 2 plants "A" and "B" and the Material "XYZ" having STO enabled settings in Material master MRP2 view (Procurement type and Special procurement key- Recieving Plant "A" and Supplying Plant "B")) for the Plant "A".

As per MRP run system will look for the Pegged requirement to consider the demand and produces the STO Purchase requisition for the material "XYZ" for the Plant "A". According to the STO process, requirements will be passed to Plant "B" and Planned orders gets generated after MRP run, production will take place, stocks can be made and shipped the stocks to the Requesting recieving plant.

PIR's placed at Plant "B" will remain same, since those demands not yet processed through the execution cycle, didn't keep in stocks . Hence during Next MRP run, system is still taking the Oct demand into Net requirement Calculation, hence it is throwing the Planned orders for the month Oct.2014 again.

Hi Bilal,

Requirements are coming from Recieving plant to supplying Plant using STO process.

In your case you dont need to place the demands in MD61 for Oct.2014.

But If you want immediate delivery from the supplying plant to fullfill the STO requirement, you need to follow the below steps.

You can place the demand using PIR in Plant "B" and complete the production cylce and keep them in the stocks, according the Planning strategy group 10, once the Goods have been issued (Delivered) from the Plant "B" against of STO Purchase order, your PIR qty gets reduced, hence when you run the MRP you will not find any Planned orders against of PIR for the month of Oct.2014. like wise you need to think for next months as well.

Please revert back to us in case of more clarity required.

Aslo reward the points if the answer suits your querry.
