Hello Everyone,

Can i increase number range for Activity & Activity element ? My requirement is that SAP allow me to only create 9999 and my project activity is 18000+ as in Primavera now how i will increase number range? Second one when i am creating Activity Element then it is taking No. like 55000000034 8540 8541 . Why it is not taking  55000000034 8540 0001 ?

Please find attached from the same.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Yogesh,

In your case there is only one network by which it is restricted to 9999 as standard option.

User the option of multiple network which can solve your problem but again how you accommodate this with your existing process is a challenge.

Thank to Everyone !!

Ok i can't increase digit for NWA & NWAE so i choose multiple NW option.

Now as i already mention - Like Network No. - 5500000065, Activity - 0001 then why my element starts from 0002. why it shouldn't 0001. So that's mean my no 9999 is include Activity plus my activity element ?

Yes you are right, the number increment is for both NWA and NWAE. As mentioned system does not differentiate between NWA and NWAE - it treats NWAE as NWA.

Hi Yogesh,

There is no number range for the Activities or Activity elements. Number range is for the Network order. For the NWA or NWAE you define how to do the increment in the network profile.

For ex: if the increment is defined as 0010 and the Network order number is 50000001

first NWA will be 50000001 0010

Second NWA will be 50000001 0020

NWAE under 50000001 0020 will be 50000001 0020 0030

NWAE under 50000001 0020 will be 50000001 0020 0040

Please note here the system identifies the NWAE as NWA and increase the number range same as NWA which is 0010 in our example.

Can you please check the network profile on your system and check whats the Op. / act. incrmt., this will provide you some more information.

Hope the above helps you.

Hello Mos,

Thanks for your input.

I checked and my Op./act incrmt 0001 only.

Hello Yogesh Acharya

With the numbering issue (not been sequential) ... this is due to buffering.
Buffering increases the performance of the application, since a database access is not required
each time a posting is made, but it can cause jumps on the internal number assignment.

If your business requirements are that the internal numeration has to be continuous, you
will have to disable buffering.
follow these steps in note 62077 that explains how to disable buffering.
And also note 456777

If several application servers are used, the chronological insert
sequence is not determined by the numerical sequence on the individual
hosts, due to the separate buffering on the various servers.

I hope this helps

Hello,

It can be buffering for Networks, but not for NWA or NWAE, that is controlled in customizing OPUU where you specify the incremental step for NWA numbering, default is 10.

Hey Yogesh,

Both NWA and NWAE numbering is limited to 4 digits.  It is not "normal" to have over 9999 NWA within one Network, instead you can have multiple Networks.  You problem might be around the interface with Primavera.  I would guess that is also the reason for numbering Network Activity Elements starting with next number from the Network Activity and not from 0001.

Cheers,
