Rolling grid and line graph & formatting axis labels

I need a few rolling reports. Months across the top; Data below need to be grouped in various ways, eg States (SA, VIC etc); Divisions, employee category, Test type etc.

I need a grid of details first, followed by a chart. I managed to get one report working by assigning names like month-1 to month-12 in formulae. I can get the grid heading to show the month name & year. Data is correct in the grid and chart. Chart labels are generic only.

Questions:

1. How do I get the chart to reference the actual month names & year on the axis, all I can get is the 'month-1' to 'month-12' formulae name.

2. Is there a better way to do this, say an array or something else? I have 7 formulae for each month so producing a 3 year report is rather impractical.

3. One report requires the top 10 employees (eg for sick leave). I can produce this in a chart with employee number on the axis. Is there a way to add the employee name as well? I can't produce data via employee name as we have duplicate employee names within the company.

I can't get the date at all in the graph. I set up 12 formulas with name Month-1 to Month-12 and populate these with the actual month. I only get these names on the graph, not the value in them. I can get the chart with the correct months displayed. I just attached an example of what I need. I have now attached what I have from my successful rolling report.

Hi Deborah,

It would be best if we could visualise the layout expected.

Could you provide a prototype of what you are trying to achieve here?

Jennifer

I have a .pdf and .docx available but cannot attach these (not allowed). I'm not sure how to produce an example. Taking a screen shot and pasting or using a snipping tool does not work either.

Sample reports attached. Data is random - not actual. I need both reports annualized with the correct month and year on the axis label.

Hi,

Try these ways:

1. You didn't convert the date to text and just added the date field to the crosstab as the column field grouped by each month it would sort ascending by default.

2. Right click on column field i.e Dec-13 -> Column Options -> Group Options -> Select 'in specified order' -> you can give correct order i.e jan-13,feb-13 etc -> ok ---This is apllicable for limited data means one year data.

or

Write a formula in Group formula for Group sort Order formula editor i.e

if Date(Year({your field}), Month({your field}), 1) then crAscendingOrder else crDescendingOrder.

3. Chart issue see these: The Crystal Reports® Underground

Thanks,
