Rights for personal folder

Hello,

We are on BI 4.1 SP1 on Win 2008 R2.

I have followed follow notes -

1325669 - How to deny access to Personal Folders by using Access Levels in XI3.x

1730987 - How to deny users to create folders in their 'My Favorites' in BI Launchpad.

But no matter what I do, the personal folder always have full right for a user. I use a group in Personal Folder option in CMC to assign the top level security. Then i see that it is inheritated at the user level for that group.

There are so many notes available on the marketplace and nothing is concrete so far for me. I only tried few based on the basic Access Level theory but it is not working so far.

I tried to make even a Access Level with bunch of Deny rights and still it is allowing user to do everything.

I do not know what I am missing.

I have not yet tried the note 1857231 - How to deny the users to Add any local document to their Personal Folders (My Favorites) t..., which sounds promosing but need soem help.

Please advice.

Thank you,

SS

Hi Surendra,

Based on your requirement, 1857231 - How to deny the users to Add any local document to their Personal Folders (My Favorites) t... seems to be fit for the intended task.

Please note that the below kba is for version XI 3.1. You've mentioned you're on BI 4.1.

1325669 - How to deny access to Personal Folders by using Access Levels in XI3.x

Refer to KBA/Notes of the given BusinessObjects version only as many features keep changing in between major versions.

The note 1857231 did work. I just assigned View only and user cannot do anything in the personal folder other than view the objects itself. The other notes are not good for BI 4.1.

It seems like I can build whatever security I like on Personal Folder based on this concept (Like we do it for Folders).

Correct?

Thank you,

SS

What help you need on the note? It clearly says you need to create custom access level and add the ACL to the group at personal folders.
