Update the SBOP Information Pltform Services from 4.0 to 4.1 SP04

Hello together,

i try to update our SBOP Information Platform Service 4.0 to 4.1 SP04. But there comes a message in the installation process i don't understand.

I suppose that i need to install another version.

Can anybody help me?

Hi,

Perhaps you have downloaded the full install package whereas you should have the update one. if that's the case go to the portal,

in Support Packages and Patches -

A - Z Index

Support Packages and Patches

D" SAP DATA SERVICES" SAP DATA SERVICES 4.2 >Information Platform Services

and download SBOP Information Platform Services 4.1 SP04 - Update

Make sure you read "SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 SP04 Install Guide" for the allowed upgrade path:

Hello Nawfal,

thanks for your answer, but under the point i can't find the package. I think the problem is that we have the "SBOP EDGE BI 4.1 WITH DI 4.2"-Licence and in this area there are only the full packages, not the update packages. And i can't find any other Download-Link for the update-packages.

Do you know another possibility or is the only way to uninstall the IPS and install the newer version?

Hi,

Are you sure you are looking for software in  "Support Packages and Patches" section? I can see packages there.  Additionally this product name  "SBOP EDGE BI 4.1 WITH DI 4.2"  implies that you have BI Edge with DS and not IPS  which  you are trying to install at the moment.

yes you are right. But today we use the SAP Data Service in combination with the IPS, because we need no other BO-Components.

If i look --> Support Packages and Patches --> E" --> SBOP EDGE BI WITH DI" SBOP EDGE BI 4.1 WITH DI 4.2 --> Installationen und Upgrades (on the right side) --> installation and Upgrade --> Windows. I can see only full packages of the IPS.

The SBOP BI Platform Server ist the full Server for all Components of the BusinessObjects and not the IPS or?

Hi,

Again you are not looking at "Support Packages and Patches", your screens show "installation and Upgrades" area.

If you are selecting "EDGE BI 4.1 WITH DI 4.2" then you'll only find BI.

For IPS you need to select "Data Services" as illustrated on my third screenshot, and still you must be in  "Support Packages and Patches" . If you can't see full  Data Services product then there is a licensing issue, contact  CIC for help on what to do next Help | SAP Support Portal

Hi Leif,

Instead of install by keeping older version (4.0), remove older version first.

Remove key registry.

Restart the server

Installation the s/w 4.1 SP04.

This will works.

If you are on windows machine:

Start> Type regedit

Click on regedit.exe.

Remove SAP Businessobjects Data Services

Please check the screen.
