Issues in installing Web IDE

Hi,

I am trying to install Web IDE using the following tutorial. http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d010835c-b539-3210-6eb6-906c58d3c...

However I am facing these errors during installation.

Hi Pina,

in the case you have already done an installation or if it could be just partially done, did you try by uninstalling first the product with the following command?

director -uninstallIU com.sap.webide.orionplugin.feature.feature.group -destination c:\SAPWebIDE\eclipse

But still I am getting the error shown in the below snapshot.

Hi Anupriya,

I gave up to install it. I have read that this version is a little bit limited.

So, I have installed the "full" version.

If you want, can follow the link below to install a version with a envirioment more complete.

two questions:

1) could you confirm that you have administrator's rights on your machine?

2) did you try to download the "uplatesite.zip" file again? It's possible that it's corrupted.

Hi Pina,

I have successfully installed the trial version locally.

There was a mistake in the command I was running for installation

director -repository jar:file:C:\SAPWebIDE\SAP_Web_IDE_Local_Inst\updatesite.zip!/ -installIU com.sap.webide.orionplugin.feature.feature.group -destination C:\SAPWebIDE\eclipse

I forgot to add ! mark at end of the file name because of that I was getting error. Because of some mistake in command you will be getting Installation failed. Unable to load repositories.

Secondly, to start Eclipse Orion sometimes you need to start the orion server manually as read in below mention blog:

After doing all this my WebIDE is up and running fine.

Yes, I created a folder on my C: drive called C:\SapWebIde and extracted all the files into this folder. I made sure that I had all the software related to my OS. Windows 7 32-Bit and the latest versions as per the above link, this is very important.

You've definitely downloaded the wrong director version. I realised I had download version 5.0 and for windows 64 bit and I had the same errors that you are having.

I have just downloaded version 8 for windows 32 bit and the installation has completed.

Hi, it's not easy to understand what happened from these logs. I suggest you to give a look to the following How-To-Guides and retry the installation:

Hi Jim,

If I remember correctly the problem was due to the wrong version of Eclipse Director and Eclipse Orion. Pay attention to the right version of the two tool.

I followed these steps. It worked well for me. Check once if you have java 7 or 8 in your environment variable. you can do that by going to cmd prompt and type %JAVA_HOME% It has to show java 7..
