Cannot switch from dedicated Agent to agent-on-the-fly Agent

Dear SolMan experts,

We have currently the following problem.

An SAP system with associated Diag-Agent is running on a logical hostname (logserv01) that is currently associated to a physical host (physerv02).

Originally in SOLMAN_SETUP, managed system configuration, hosts, we have only setup logserv01.

Now we want to switch to agent-on-the-fly.

However it is not possible to run managed system configuration for the physical server physerv02.

We have made several attempts, all of them did not work out:

- smdsetup changeservername

- smdsetup managingconf

- smdsetup sldconf

- in managed system configuration, remove the link for the logical server logserv01

- restart DAA agent

At the end the problem was that the DAA agent still showed up with hostname "logserv01", and we did not find a way to change this. This has to be "physerv02" to work out!

Any suggestions?

Best regards,

Peter

    Hello Peter,

    At the following path , where you have installed your diagnostics agent.

    /usr/sap/DAA/<instance>/SMDAgent/configuration

    In the configuration file runtime.properties. Maintain the following parameter.

    sap.solution.manager.server.name=<hostname>

    Where hostname should be your physical host.

    And for the logical host diagnostics agent, the configuration file would be at the location.

    /usr/sap/DAA/<instance>/SMDAgent_<logical_host)/configuration

    Maintain the same parameter in the configuration file runtime.properties. Host name would be your logical host.

    sap.solution.manager.server.name=<hostname>

    and restart your diagnostics agent. Hopefully this will resolve your problem.

    Thanks

    Amit

    • Steps required

      * stop DAA

      * empty work, log and temp directory

      * in /usr/sap perform

      # grep logserv01 $( find DAA -type f )

      * change all relevant entries

      especially in /usr/sap/DAA/SMDA97/SMDAgent/configuration/runtime.properties

      * rename profile in /usr/sap/DAA/SYS/profile

      * go to Agent Admin,

      remove offline agents

      * perform “smdsetup.sh changeservername servername=physerv02”

      * perform “smdsetup.sh managingconf hostname:logserv01.networkdomain.com port:50004 user:SMD_AGT pwd:$SLDPWD”

      * perform “smdsetup.sh sldconf hostname:logserv01.networkdomain.com port:50000 user:SLDDSUSER pwd:$SLDPWD”

      * start DAA

      * in SOLMAN_ADMIN perform managed system configuration for hosts

    Hi Peter,

    Could you please more information about your system status, then we can suggest correct suggestions ASAP, thank you.

    1) Is your SAP System installed with Logical Host name ?

    2) Is your SAP System installed on Clusters ? if yes, what are the Cluster nodes (Node1 and Node2) ?

    3) Please provide the screenshot from Managed System setup (where SMD agents are showing Red lights),

    4) Please provide the screenshot from LMDB -> Product Systems - > expand the tree -> Technical Systems information.

    Best Regards,

    Upendra
