Postion ID role in PS/IM

Hi Team,

I need some info regarding PS-IM .

1. Purpose of Postion ID in IM.

2. Can we any name of position ID (I tried it is taking any name )

2. What happen if wbs is not assigned on postion ID.

3. Purpose of status(CRTD ) in  postion ID.

4, suppose I have created hierarchical strcutrue of postion ID and one hierarchical of Wbs in one project.

Is there any link between them ?

How the budget get transfer from IM  to PS (any code)

and last but not the least.

5.Investment program is dependent on company code and profit center ?

if yes , then how we change it(T.code) ..I am talking about investment program(IM25) not investment program defintion.

Client requirement is delete company code and profit center from investment program in IM25.

Hi Rahul

Please find answers to your queries below:

1. Position ID can be defined as your departments which controls budgets in an organizations. it can be Plants, It can be Companies, It all depends upon the business on how they want to define the position ID.

2.  Yes you can give any description to the Position ID. But it would make more sense to give some appropirate name to these IDs so that Users can get a feel of from where the budget is being drawn.

3. It is the system status denoting that the Position ID is created and further nodes can be assigned. No special governance is associated with Position ID statuses.

4. Yes the WBS and IM Position Id ( Lowest Node) needs to be linked to the WBS to which you want to draw the budget from. the tcode is IM38 - IM52-CJ30.

5. Whats the reason of changing the Investment Management Programs? You can use IM01/IM02 to change the investment program or create a new one..

What is happening ,,company division is going on ..thats why  chnaging of Investment program required.

Here one question arises, IM01/IM02 is used to create investment program definiton not investment program (IM25) .

I need to remove some profit center in investment program from profit center hierarchery .

how can we do this.

Hi Rahul,

You can change investment program position IDs using IM22.

If the companies are changing, isnt it better to start a fresh for new company codes by creating fresh IM program and position IDs??

for the second question its obvious nothing happens .. If no IM is assigned to the WBS the budgeting doesn't flow from  IM to PS.. If in your budget profile you have selected the program type then it makes it mandatory to get the budgets from IM position Ids and you have to link your WBS to IM..
