Breaking News: With SPS09 the feature SAP HANA multitenant database containers (MDC) is introduced

Good Morning All,

the OSS Note 1661202 - Support for multiple applications on SAP HANA has been updated.

According to the Note (and obviously I cannot reproduce it here) it is now supported to use the Hana

concept of Multitenant Database Containers (MDC) and run two SAP systems, eg an ERP and a ECC-HR

on the same Hana Appliance, but each SAP system having it's very own Tenant DB - in Production !

This is a major milestone in the evolution and maturity of the SAP Hana Platform.

This opens the door to reducing the cost of implementing Hana by giving Customers more options for

sharing assets and dividing the cost.

I am surprised nobody has blogged this, and that more was not reported on this at Teched.

The OSS Note is the source of truth on this subject please make sure to read that to fully understand the concept

and possibilities.

Best regards,

Andy.

It seems the html version of SAP HANA Admin Guide is already updated and you can find Multitenant Database Containers - SAP HANA Administration Guide - SAP Library

    Hi Andy

I guess there's coming a lot more documentation coming up soon, so I'd recommend to hang in there.

While waiting, you may like to check out the public SAP JAM page, https://blogs.saphana.com/2014/10/21/what-is-new-in-sap-hana-sps-09/ and https://hcp.sap.com/content/dam/website/saphana/en_us/Technology%20Documents/SPS09/SAP%20HANA%20SPS%2009%20-%20Multitena…

(gosh, the link formatting is not exactly pretty...)
