Hello Experts,

I am working on an analytics tool in on of the SAP Business suite systems to extract data from SAP Charm (The number of change requests created and the related defects raised on those change request)

For doing this, I need to know what are the API's available to extract CHaRM data. I searched in every help documentation and I couldn't find any.

As of now Solution Manager is a black box with interesting data that I would really like to crunch.

Thanks in advance

Hi Yuvaraj

CHARM data is (in recent versions) stored in BW InfoCubes on SAP Solution Manager so you should be looking in that direction I would imagine in order to get data out, otherwise you can also program data extraction but there is no web service available (for example) in standard SAP to provide this kind of data.

Best regards

Tom

Hello Tom,

I read about SolMan data available in BW, but is there a document explaining how to make use of them?

Thanks,

Yuvaraj

Hi Yuvaraj

There isn't really a single document. There are many ways to consume the data, most easy way is using SAP BW specific software like Bex Query Designer / Bex Query Analyzer (Excel based) or Analysis Office (requires a separate license though). SAP Solution Manager 7.2 offers KPI dashboard capabilities so you could build analytics (in addition to standard analytics that are available) on SAP Solution Manager 7.2 itself, based on BW queries. You can add your own KPI tiles that run against a custom BW query for example.

Check out #solman on Twitter for a recent example of predefined content by SAP shown by @tpowlas (Tammy Powlas, SAP Mentor, also active on SCN).

Best regards

Tom

There used to be a document on SCN speaking about the health of the BW content by Jansi. That had a lot of good information. Other than that I would think app help would be your best bet.
