Error installing Livecache 7.9

Former Member

Hi Guys,

I am installing SCM 7.0 EHP3 on windows 2008 / SQL 2008 platform.

I have started with maxdb installation from livecache server. I have fully installed Maxdb. Then I installed SCM and optimizer on the other server . Now I need to install Livecach but it is giving me a following error. I believe since I installed Maxdb that's and use the sid QL2 that's why its not accepting the QL2 again on livecache installation. so I tried to remove maxdb but it hasn't got deleted. Please let me know what should be done.

Error : Caught ESAPinstException in module call: .

Please advise

Thanks

Hi Farooq,

As far as I know, you are installing SCM with Maxdb as the Database. Livecache is a part of SCM installation and would be there on the Server where your components like SCM services and Database resides.

Please correct me if this is not the case.

You need to install Database and then SCM. after that you install Livecache and the SID can be different. keep it default if any issues. Livecache asks for the connection details wherein you fill the details of the SCM instance and connect is possible.

I am having issue connecting Livecache with SCM. I have done SCM installation long time ago. I need to know the installation sequence.

1 Step:

SCM - QS2 - svq-sapapo02

installed SCM

Installed Optimizer

Installed Maxdb

2. step:

Livecache QL2 - svq-saplivche02

Installed Livecache ( server )

Installed Maxdb

Do I need to know if I need to install Livecache (Client ) on SCM- QS2 server or not ?

Do I need to remove Maxdb from any of this server SCM and Livecache ?

I need some guidance on the post installation steps. like reports and other steps. My LC10 is not connecting to database. Please advise.

Hi Farooq,

You can give different SID name to your Live cache installation, you need not have same SID for Livecache as Maxdb.

You can refer to the link below.

http://scn.sap.com/thread/817525

If going for uninstall, there are certain uninstall tools in the Market which can be used. They remove registry entries and do a complete uninstall.

You can ask the IT team to uninstall.

If not then as suggested by Reagan, Reinstall the OS.

Hi ,

I was able to install livecache in separate server after restore OS. Now I am having issue to connect with SCM. I would like to know few things.

1) Are there any post steps to connect livecache . Does anyone has any post installation steps document.

2) When I was having livecache issue and friend of mine un install MAXDB from SCM server that probably installed with SCM by default. Do I need to install it again ?

3) Do I need to configure any rfc ?

Please advise.

Thanks

Mohammad Farooq

You should use the MaxDB installer or uninstaller to remove the previous MaxDB installation and then use sapinst to do the installation for you.

Yes I did try to remove it though maxdb but it uninstall couple of tab like addon etc and I couldn't uninstall DB . I tried some command to detech and drop db but didn't work now one of the services got stuck shows started and I can't stop the service I think if I stop the service then it may fix it.

dbmcli inst_enum

dbmcli db_enum

dbmcli -d DB1 -u control,control db_stop

dbmcli -d DB1 -u control,control db_drop

I think now max db is half way uninstalled. I am stuck now. can

t use the same SID or any sid for livecache installation

You will need to uninstall the MaxDB installation completely. I am not sure how you are uninstalling the installation, but if there are still entries like services, registry entries of the old installation this will not permit you to continue with a new installation with the same SID.

If nothing works then reinstall the OS.
