Hi Sajmal,

Problem: -

During support pack activity of SAP_BASIS component, we have faced problem “Syntax error in program SAPLSFES”

Symptoms: -

1. If you will try login to SAP, it will log on without asking credential.

2. If you fire any t-code, it will come out from SAP or will give syntax error.

Reason:-

The reason for the syntax errors is that you cancelled the MAIN IMPORT of SAP_BASIS support packages. It left the system in an inconsistent state.

Resolution:-

Hit and Try: Just leave the system alone in running state for 4-5 hours and if you are lucky system will be back to its actual state. Sometime it works. (It worked for me in DEV but not in PROD). You can monitor at OS by checking DEV_WP work process.

Permanent Solution: -

If there is no luck in waiting for 4-5 hours then we have 2 options.

1. In this case, raise a very high message to SAP with component “BC-UPG-OCS-SPA” and ask them to finish the MAIN IMPORT Phase via their internal tool.

2. Sometime SAP also does not able to make it successful from their end. In this case, you will have to go with restore work with your latest backup taken before support pack work.

Hi Sajmal,

Do you see that the MAIN IMPORT is still running for SAP_BASIS or you have cancelled it ?

Sometimes if it is running you would get that error. I would say go out for lunch or take a break and try after 30mins or an hour. Mostly the error will vanish.

And many times trying to resolve this error while your MAIN IMPORT is running can cause more damage.

Hi Sajmal,

For this you must now raise a message with SAP as they can assist here.

Sorry for the loss.

The problem is with the frontend service.

Either try with any other version of SAPGUI or you have incorrectly updated your system, for which you should raise an OSS message or provide us some input on what you did.
