Suggestion for new Installation (BI Version)

Hi,

Let me summarize what am looking for We are planning for a upgrade from BOXI 3.1 SP5 to BI latest version?

I went through some blogs but i was unable to find what i need?

My Requirements:

1.Currently we have 50+ webi reports, when upgraded to latest version all those reports should work.

2.We are also planning for 2 new improvements

•           Dashboard (Xcelsius) - In BI Xcelsius is Dashboard.
•           SAP Mobile
•           Adhoc Reporting

Can anyone shed some light on this, about which version will be suitable all the above requirements.

and also can anyone tell us which is the latest BI Version available for download.?

Based on this i have to prepare a document to present to client and convenience them..!!

Inputs will be really useful..

Hi Arul,

As you are upgrading from 3.1.

I would recommend you to do a sizing exercise fisrt in place for your new landscape.

BI 4.1 SP04 Patch 04 is available and next week SP05 is scheduled to release.

And both these versions will serve your needs.

Hi All,

As planned we are upgrading to BI4.1 SP5, i have downloaded the Latest versions from SAP market place.

Initially we got license for 3.1 and Xcelsius 2008.

Now whether we need to purchase the New license for 4.1 and Dashboard 4.1? or old license will hold good.

You need to have new license for 4.1. You can request the license from SAP support. But you don't need to pay antyhing extra.

You can open a ticket with SAP or you can call them directly or you can work with your SAP sales rep.

When you login to SAP support portal, you will see an option for Keys, Systems & Installations.

just for clarification. You have to request new License Keys within the SAP Service Market place, thats true.

You asked if you have to purchase new licenses for BI 4.1 and Dashboard Design. Thats a negativ. If you have a valid Maintenance agreement with SAP, you dont have to buy any new licenses for using BI 4.1 and Dashboard Design 4.1.

Hi Sebastian,

I tried installing latest SAP BusinessObjects Dashboard 4.1, which asked for License when i gave previous Xcelsius 2008 license the installation throws error as invalid key. Which means key is not suitable to SAP BusinessObjects Dashboard 4.1 rite? correct me if am wrong.

Now what should we do..!  As Jawahar mentioned should we request new license? for this we need not pay anything extra?

Hi Arul,

Yes. You will need a separate license key for Dashboards 4.1. You can contact SAP and ask them for upgrade license for Dashboards. SAP would be able to tell you regarding extra payment if required.

In the mean time you can download temporary license keys from SAP support portal and use this key to install Dashboards. The temporary key will be valid for one or two months and you can get a permanent key by that time.

Hi,

yes, a XC 2008 key doesnt work with Dashboards 4.1. Contact you SAP Sales Rep. He can start the process of converting your Keys to BI 4.1.

Latest available version for BI 4.1 is SP04 and can be downloaded from Service Market Place.
