Dear SDN

i'm a korean.

There are so many great weblog & article in SDN.

is it okay to translate them into korean ?

if i do translate them and write weblog, can i get some points? ^^

and whenever i do it , do i need to ask the author's permission ?

As you know, [Localized Content] does only work on each menu, not the real contents.

I think SAP developers need their own language contents.

That's why i try to do this.

is it possible or not ?

Merry Christmas~ & Happy new year

You will always require the permission of the author to recreate their work in any additional languages or to even reprint their work anywhere else.

As for posting of weblogs in Korean, at the moment that is not possible as we are not set up for that. We agree with you though and we are working towards that.

Hi David,

we do support at this point contribution of Original content and translation of articles in SDN.

as Craig suggested, you need to the permission of the author for translation, but you are more than welcome to post your original articles in Korean.

Dear Shay Barry

Yeah, of course , i will get the permission from the author.

Here we go.

my question is ....

For instance,

If i try to translate the following Weblog (without any modification ),

/people/john.astill/blog/2005/07/03/weather-magnet

at first, i need to get the permission from John Astill.

and then i need to get the permission from Thomas Jung ( because the OnInitialization Event Handler is from him ).

What do you think ? haha , i'm just asking you.

well, i tried to type "korean" ->[Çѱ¹¾î]<-.

as you can see it, it becomes special code(?). ^^

Hi David,

as I mentioned - translation and support of Korean is currently supported on items of the SDN library (articles) and not content in the Weblog section. this is still under evaluation, and feedback as yours, help us to understand the exact requirements, and prioritization of such capabilities.

if you decide to translate an article it should be in unicode (UTF-8).

concerning granting points - I think that some complementary points is quite fair, for the effort of translating it for SDN Korean users.

Shay

Hi David,

As Shay said only the articles are currently possible. However in this case with the weblog you would only need the permission of the author who wrote what you wanted to translate, John, if you wanted to translate what Thomas wrote then him as well.

As Shay said though we are still evaulating the weblog areas so your feedback is helpful. Hopefully we'll be able to support it in the future but for now we will have to wait.

Is it possible?

Will you provide the standard format of Document ( doc or pdf format)?

Will you support the screenshots of these documents?

Actually, i succeeded to install it and tested them by myself on my PC-korean win2k & XP. It means i can put my screenshots on the translated documents.

thanks

The standard template is located under "Submit Content" in the top right corner of SDN.

As for the documents and the images you will need to contact the author of these documents and ask their premission to do so as well as ask them about images, etc.

Dear Craig

If you don't mind, could you let me know who are the author of these documents?

Do i need to contact SAP ?

Hi David,

normally, if you put a comment on the weblogs in question, the author gets informed by email that there is a post on his/her weblog containing the comment.

regards

Siggi

PS: This normally happens if somebody puts comments on my blogs.

For weblogs if they selected the option when applying to be notified then this happens. But only for weblogs or "watches" in the forum.
