Upgrade BW 7.01 SPS14 to BW 7.4 - Queries with "calculation before aggregation" still executable (Report SAP_QUERY_CHECKER_740)?

Hallo Together,

our plan is to upgrade our BW-system to 7.4.

When we execute report SAP_QUERY_CHECKER_740 there is a list of (old) queries with "calculation before aggregation".

Does this mean in 7.4 these queries are no longer supported or is this simply a warning message?

This SAP note doesn't sound good, for us this means a lot of problems (also for the customer).

Do you think it's better doing an upgrade to 7.3?

Or is there an easy way to modify 7.4 queries.

Hi Christian,

in my case, my queries with calculation before agregation wasn't working anymore in 740. I had to implement exceptional aggregation to make this queries worked as expected.

Hi,

that is one of the mayor changes when upgrading to SAP BW 7.40. If you want to use the old functionality, SAP BW 7.31 is the last Release where you can use your 3.x Queries without migration.

We are facing the same issue.

The standard after upgrade is to set a calculation based on BWA/HANA...

Try to change the characteristics in RSRT tcode, one of these characteristics is "Operation in BWA/HANA" and should be revised  if you got any error.

Hi,

Yes, calculation before aggregation is obsolete but you can use Calculation After Aggregation feature (in higher BW version) with precautions as mentioned in below sapnote

I run the report also, and I have a lot of queries with calculatation before aggreation, ans I don't know not where is the restriction.

Nothing really worrying in this note. The function "Calculation before aggregation" is obsolete since the 70 version (you should currently have a warning in 7.01 when opening a query using this function).

Question is : is this function still working as before in 740.

The note doesn't answer to this question.
