Reg: Restricting characterstic values

Dear Experts ,

I need certain characteristic values should be hided based on the selection of other characteristic values.

Currently i am using object dependency pre-condition at characteristic value level.

Is there any other options available to achieve this..?

Can we use variant table/procedures..?
