before BI 4.2 if in your BO reports you have two or more queries then they will run sequentially.means first query will run and then second and after that you will see consolidate data.

SAP released new feature from BI 4.2 to run queries in parallel. means instead of second query will wait to run both the queries will run in parallel.

benifit of this feature is it will reduce the refresh time.

Check attached link for more information.

My query is ,Two or more queries means ,

For example , I have two objects ,can I treat these two objects as two queries ? If not

could you please share one example about two or more queries ,If possible Amit ?

No,two or more queries means webi queries or multiple data providers (same meaning)..

Thanks Amit,

Lastly ,can you please explain the below sentences.

  • There is no parallel activity at the refresh preparation (i.e. query script generation, resolution of contexts, and prompts) ......what does it mean ?
  • Parallel queries will not be run for dependent data providers......what does it mean ?

context/prompt (refresh preparation) means let say if you have two queries and same or different prompts in the both the webi queries then parallel activity will not work.prompts lov display will sequentially.

Dependant data providers means if output of first webi query object is passed in the second webi query then it's not going to work.

like in second webi query filter condition if you put condition like State in list "result from other/any query" option and select the first query object in the filter condition.in this case you have dependent webi queries.

Don't mind Amit,

Didn't understand the 1st explanation,

"context/prompt (refresh preparation) means let say if you have two queries and same or different prompts in the both the webi queries then parallel activity will not work.prompts lov display will sequentially."

Moreover , what will happen while query script generation , here also parallel activity won't work

in simple terms for all these simple individual activities processed very fast but in background for all these activities no of rows/or you can queries are processed. For those parellel queryies will not work.

Thanks Amit,

Query on this statement "Parallel query execution to be performed when refreshing WebI documents with multiple data providers"

Query :

For parallel query execution or generally ,Is it mandatory to merge the common dimensions which were received from multiple data providers in webi report ?

If your answer is yes ,Suppose ,If objects don't have common dimension which we got from multiple data provider ,how to proceed ?

Do we use only one universe as multiple data providers?

Could you please provide the 'result from other /any query' option screen shot ?
