Patch Update for SAP BI

Hi,

Currently we are in SAP BI 4.1 SP2 Patch 3 version of business objects. We would like to update to SAP BI 4.1 SP4. Can any one of you please help in understanding the path of Upgrade. Should it be SP2->SP3->SP4 or directly we can update from SP2->SP4. I was not able to find the information in support documents.

Also, In SP4 which is the latest patch avaialable in market. Thanks for your help

     As of BO 4.0 w/ SP05 the patches are cumulative, which mean you DO NOT install incremental patches anymore.

In you case you go straight from BI 4.1 w/ SP2 to SP4 without any issues.  If you wait for another 10days, SP5 for BI 4.1 will be out.

Thanks Ajay. Thats a great news. But when I refer forward fit plan it says it has to be incremental.

Do you have any references for cumulative patch and say if SP5 comes out in 10 days. whether we will be able to go from SP2 to SP5 directly?

     Actually the RTM to everyone is 3rd week of Nov, we as partners get a little earlier (10days).

Thanks Ajay. So just to make my understanding clear. In future if we need to move from SP2 patch 3 to SP5 patch 3. we would need to install SP5 on the current system and then just patch 3 over it?

Karthik,

    That is correct, you MUST install the proper service pack before installing the patch for the service pack required.

Hi Ajay,

Have you got any update on BI 4.1  SP5 . Is it scheduled to be released at the same time as mentioned by SAP. I came across a blog of Dallas Marks in which he had mentioned its going to be delayed.

     We as partners have an early beta release of SP5 that we are testing.  At this point we have NOT been notified by SAP about any delays.  The BI 4.1 SP5 is still scheduled to be released week 47, see below.

Hi

I have done fresh installation of BI SP01 on windows 2008 R2 need to do patch upgrade, can anyone help me what patch level should i download & explain the process of how to do patch upgrade & also followed patch upgrade guide but no success.
