BPMon : File monitoring not returning the correct result

Hi Experts,

I have configured BPMon File monitoring in our environment. We are Solman 7.1 SP10.

The issue is that when I validate the configuration it says that I have 15000 odd files matching the pattern in the directory that I want to monitor.

I have configured as a test to raise an alert if there are more than 10 files.

I do not get any alerts and in the alert inbox it says that there are 0 files that match the criteria.

Attached screenshots supporting the same.

Regards,

Ashutosh

What does CCMS report as the values as I do believe BPMon pulls values from those metrics.

Have you looked at MAI metrics for a Host template, metric is 'Number of files'?  Define the path and let MAI do its magic.

Can you post a screen shot(s) of how the alert is configured ?

Hi Elena,

Attached screenshot of the config. I have set the threshold to 10 files. And as it is clear from my previous screenshots, the directory has more than 15000 files matching the criteria.

Hi Ash,

3 suggestions:

1) can you click on the "Display Help for Key figure" and read it - there might be more info in there as to how to fill up parameters and what they mean. The description of key figure reads "...at the time of data collection" which can be ambiguous. i.e it may count files of specific pattern at each data collection, that can be less than 10 every time

2) can you check the directory manually and see how many files really meet your criteria - just to make sure

3) Can you try remove * from File name and User lines , as this criteria may be wide open - and they are not mandatory it seems, so if you are filtering by the name pattern, then fill in pattern only - and see what happens

Hope it helps

Elena

HI Elena,

1) I have read the help. The files in the directory are static. They have not moved.

2) I have check the directory manually and there are file matching the pattern. I have even tested using file pattern matcher tool to make sure that the pattern is correct for the type of files I am looking at.

3) Tried removing the *. No luck.

Hi,

I raised an OSS message for the same and the reply was that the user which collects the data is missing authorizations.

Authorization object S_CTS_ADMI with the instance: Authorization field

CTS_ADMFCT: EPS1

Still to import them to production and check. Will update this discussion with my findings.

Hi,

It was an auths issues. Once the correct auths were in place, the issue got resolved.

Hi Ashutosh,

Currently I am facing the same issue with file monitoring. I have already given the necessary authorisation to the 'Read RFC' user - S_CTS_ADMi with field CTS_ADMFCT: EPS1 but still the measured value of the alert is 0. I have checked the file path in AL11 of the managed system and the file is present there.

Please help me in resolving the issue.

Hi Kavita,

It may sound weird, but can you get those auths assigned to your ID as well if you have configured BPmon and then check.

That is what I can think of at the moment.

Ash
