Automatic creation of serial numbers

Is there a way to get SAP 9.0 to automatically create serial numbers (NOT JUST SYSTEM NUMBERS) on creation of receipt.  I can get the system to create a serial number record with a unique SYSTEM number, but the serial number is blank. With only the system number being created, we can not create a customer equipment card without going into each of the records that were automatically created and adding in either a serial number or a manufacturers serial number.  This is to time consuming for the number of serial numbers produced each day.

Hi,

There is no automatic creating of serial number creation in standard B1. But if we define string and first number in automatic creation window, then system create serial number as per selected number.
