Extend Standard Gateway Service

Hi Gurus,

I am novice in SAP Netweaver Gateway and would like your assistance in this regard.

There is a requirement where I need to extend a Gateway service to add additional parameters.

I have read documentation where Gateway Service can be enhanced by redefining it as custom but in this case the external service name changes to a new name which is not desired. For example

Assume the gateway service name is PAOC_TRAVEL, and I have extended this service by redefining it as ZPAOC_TRAVEL.Now the issue with this is that everywhere including the standard Fiori App, we have to replace Service name from PAOC_TRAVEL to ZPAOC_TRAVEL which we do not want to do.

Sp, IS there a way where we can extend the gateway service ( by adding additional parameters) and yet the external service name remains same i.e PAOC_TRAVEL ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Deejay,

Are u on which SP level ? SP 09 ?

If yes then there is a Service Extension Section, there u need to check the check box for Overwrite Base/Extended Service so that u can access the newly created service with the old name itself.

If at all u r on any SP less than 09, i do not think u can achieve the way u r expecting as we cannot create a child service and give the service name which is that of the parent one.

Service names are unique and we cant have duplicates.

GW service builder will throw error if we try to use the same name

Hi Deejay,

as Ashwin correctly pointed out with SP9 we have a new option to extend (redefine) a service such that the new redefined implementation is called rather the original one.

Prior to SP9 there would be the option to change the customizing of the service registration if you do not want to change the service URL that is used by your Fiori app.

    I have scaned the document about the fiori app enhancement,but do you have any idea about how to make this realized? how can we reserve a exit for user in odata&gateway?
