Message no. CK122 and Material Ledger

Hi All

My client is performing process order settlement for August 2014 through CO88, but getting below error message

Message no. CK122 -

Invalid posting period (please check your entry)

Currently October and September 2014 are opened in the system. We also have material ledger activated in our case.

I have applied SAP Note 1135678 - KO88/CO88: Settling for closed previous period, CK122 but system giving error.

Kindly suggest solution so we can move forward.

Hi,

Please tell me the selection parameters you are using in CO88. It should be like this: Setllement Period (august) and Posting Period (September)

Thanks for the response,

I have tried this (what you have suggested) and system is allowing posting in the September, but my concern is same that why can't i post in the August. Even Material Ledger allow closing entry posting in the locked MM periods.

I believe that there must be some way out.

Beside this i am not sure what would be the impacts if i settle the orders of August in September ?. How material ledger will behave in this case?.

Hi Saad,

By definition, you may only post MM movements in the current period and in the previous (if MMRV allows you). You can run the material ledger cockpit for the previous periods using special commands described by SAP Note 361236 - CKMLCP: No period-end closing operations after period shift but you won't be able to settle production orders (in you case in August).

In this case you have 2 options:

- Not to settle the production orders. The variances will remain in your cost objects and will affect your P&L.

- Settle the production order to September/2014. In this case the variantes will be settle one period later. In this case your P&L will be affected in Aug/2014, but will be reversed Sep/2014 against you Inventory or COGS. Make sure you have quantities in stock to be possible to absorb the price differences.

I just want to clear my understanding that SAP Note 1135678 - KO88/CO88: Settling for closed previous period works in Non-Material Ledger environment but will not work if material ledger is active, am i right?

Hi Saad,

This note talking about previous period means September period not August period. You cannot post transactions for August period in MM.

It's mentioned in the Note that previous period in which posting is not allowed, but in my case posting is allowed in September.

As per my understanding, this SAP Note is working only in Non-Material Ledger environment.
