SUM - Update directory lost before downtime

Former Member

Dear Community,

On one of our SRM sandbox system I was about to apply the latest SPS along with some new addons using the standard procedure with MOPZ and SUM.

I went through the whole Preprocessing phase and reached the point before downtime.

Unfortunately I could not continue for 3 weeks on this, and now the SUM directory which was badly placed under /tmp is gone due to some clean-up jobs which were unknown to me.

There are no file system or older db backups either as this is a sandbox only.

In short:

System is expecting the downtime but the SUM directory is gone.

What are the options now to reset the system?

Anyone got experience with such a situation?

Thanks and Regards,
Thomas

You don't have a backup - your system is a sandbox - you have lost SUM files.

Well, last thing is you can check with a file system backup, if you have.

Else, build a new sandbox, refresh from any system and start it again.

As this is a sandbox then restore the database backup taken before the start of the upgrade and start the upgrade once again.

Dear Benjamin,

As I said: there are no backups available before the start.

I'm looking for a fix-forward solution.

Thanks and Regards,

Thomas

Hello Thomas

I am sorry. I over looked that. Bad eyes.

You have two options here.

1 - Restore the production system database backup (system refresh) and start the upgrade. This is the best approach.

2 - Run the report RSUPGRES and if required drop the shadow schema and see if that helps.

417670 - Addnl information on resetting upgrade as of Release 6.10

I suggest you to check the second option with SAP before doing it.
