Hello,
I have one doubt.
Suppose we are using Strategy '10',we manually created the PIR for 100 and 200 pieces on date 08-10-2014 and 10-10-2014 respectively. Also,we have got a sales order of 50 quantities on 14-08-2014.Now,Suppose we have maintained consumption mode 'only backward' with just planning days as 10 days only.Suppose after running the MRP,we have converted the planned order to production order also posted the goods issue,so the PIR is reduced to 50 now.
And now,if we get another sales order on 22-08-2014,So,what will happen to the remaining PIR of 50 units, means will it get consumed or be just remain like that??
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Anuj
Hi Anuj,
PIR from Strategy 10 are only consumed when the goods issue is done.. not when the sales order is entered in the system.
Read the help.. there is a very clear example, that explains your doubt:
Sample Scenario: Strategy 10 - Demand Management (PP-MP-DEM) - SAP Library

Hi Mariano,
Thanks for replying.
I know that PIR will only gets reduced when we do GI and not when we enter sales order.Actually,My doubt is if we get the sales order of 50 units on 22-10-2014,and already we have 50 units in stock from previous production,so now when we do GI for that sales order, then will it reduce the previous PIR?? as it will be not in planning horizon as we have maintained only 10 days as our backward planning horizon.
Ans If not, then what will happen to that PIR??
Regards,
Anuj
Hello Anuj,
The system always reduces the oldest planned independent requirements at the time PGI against Sale order, unless the consumption fields (Consumption mode, Fwd consumption per., Bwd consumption per.) are maintained in the material master or in the MRP group.

Hi Anuj,
The good issue of your new sales order should not reduce the PIR, because as you said, the remaining PIR is out of the backward consumption period. So this will generate an additional requirement for you.
In order to be sure, I recommend to you to make a quick test in your quality system and check it...
Kind Regards,
Mariano
Anuj,
Your old remaining PIR quantity 50 remains as it is as it is not within the backward period of 10 days from sales order date.
See below SAP help information on unconsumed PIR
The planned independent requirement is reduced during processing of the goods issue. Old quantities can still be retrieved by using either Goto ® Schedule line history in Demand Management, or by using the total requirements list (Evaluations ® Display total requirements from the Demand Management menu). The quantities issued are displayed in the Withdrawal quantity field.
