Hi Gurus,
I have some infoproviders, some cubes and dsos and the size of them are more or less than 20GB when checked in DB02 tcode. Could you tell me how I can reduce the size of them. Is it either by compressing the data or archiving the requests. Can you throw some light on this.
Regards,
Rajesh.
Hi Rajesh,
Cube- you can compress the request with zero elimination; this will reduce the size. If cube can be remodelled i.e. storing data at higher level that reduces size.
DSO's- you can delete the change log entries.
Also you can delete the PSA requests by keeping last 2weeks/month requests only.
you can delete the dtp tem pstorage/rsbatch messages etc to free some space.
Thanks,
Maddy

Dear
Better to perform housekeeping activities.
like deletion of old psa data and deletion of change log tables data once its loaded to connected targets.
Reorganize your logs tables.
if your loading any full loads on daily basis then better delete the old data before new load.
PSAPSR3 - its standard table for abap stack for sap objects.
for more information please refer the OSS Note - 355771

Hi Rajesh
Data reduction has several aspects in BW and the proposal varies from situation to situation, the need of data and the data flow:
In general following are the recommendations to control the data growth:
1) Infocube: Compress the cube for the requests older than XX days (depends on need of data for further layers)
2) DSO: Delete/Archive the data based on the retention period defined/agreed with business.
3) DSO: Convert the Standard DSO's to WO DSO if the data flow permits and possible.
However please do post if there is any specific area where you need information.

Hi Rajesh
Compression will shrink the "F" table and shall move the data to "E" table but if the compression is done with the check box "Zero Elimination" then while moving it will delete all the records which has "0" values in the key figures which will certainly reduce the data records and eventually the size of tables.
Regarding WO-DSO please try to agree the retention period of that particular data in BW system upon which you can delete the data from that DSO which is older than agreed date.
