Query regarding DIR release status

Hi Gurus,

I have a query regarding the release status of the document number in CV04N. We have a document number which has multiple document types such as BOM, INF and DRW with different document versions. However, we have observed that there are multiple documents with released status i.e., for the document number XYZ we can see there is a document type BOM with status released and also we have another released document with document type DRW.

Kindly let us know if this is as per the standard SAP behavior. In case the above behavior is as per standard SAP, then please let us know if there are any possibilities to control the same such that for one document number there can be only 1 released document irrespective of the document types.

Thank you.

    Hi Sanju,

based on your description this means to be the current standard behavior. Because you are using different document types and so these document info records are not related to each other even when they use the same document number.

So in this scenario it is possible to have several document info records with the "Release" status. Generally it is also possible to have several versions of the same document number and type with status "Released". But normally this is not used by customers and stopped by business process guidelines to have only one "released" version.

To control this I can only think of an individual BADI check like using DOCUMENT_MAIN01 with method BEFORE_SAVE for example. But this depends heavily on your business process requirements.

    Best regards,
