Movement type Suggestion required

Hi SAP,

• We always have new sales order types to be created to track inventory for their department.(Toners,cartridges,printer supplies)

• And every time new G/L account is provided for the requirement.

• Eventually while creating the new order type specific to tracking inventory, we land up in creating new movement types and Account modifier.

• This is resulting in lot of custom movement types and return movement types.

• As the above Business process is specific to one category of Inventory tracking.

• As Movement type selection has only one option in "maintain schedule line categories" t-Code  VOV6,

• And in Movement type creation also,"Account grouping is becoming difficult"

• is there any standard way to tackle the issue, Please reply

Hi Aravind,

Its quite surprizing to know why there is a need to create customized movement types for each of the new sales order types. Ultimately the a new SO type does not necessarily mean a variation in dispatch. SO inventory is anyhow tracked with SO stock for each customer. SO stock can be monitored and tracked even by using the same movement type.

Although similar nature of businesss,the t/e key should prompt a new account modifier and subsequently through a new movemnt type.

no matter how much i am trying to figure out, Since the GL account is unique, I am not able to connect the existing mvt tpes.
