Unable to connect to HANA SAP Netweaver instance on CAL from Remote Desktop

I've followed the instructions on creating a trial instance of SAP Application Server ABAP 7.4 SP5 with SAP NetWeaver AS as documented here - https://caldocs.hana.ondemand.com/caldocs/help/ABAP74SP5_HANASP7_CVA_Trial_Tech_brief_user_guide.pdf.


The part I'm stuck on is connecting to the instance via Remote Desktop. In fact, the IP address of the instance on CAL is not reachable by ping. Also when I do a port scan, there are no ports open for the IP address. I did set up an access point when configuring the instance in CAL for port 3389 as a type of "Custom TCP". Is there something else that needs to be configured for this?
