Auto-Filling a Value of a Contract Document

Hi Experts!

Is there a way to auto fill the contract type whenever Contract Document Template is chosen?

I see SAP CLM has one already by default, but is there a way to change the selection?

For Example:

When I generate a contract (img1), and chose the template, I want the Contract Document Type field to change it's value (img2), depending on what template is chosen, and the Purchasing Organization that master agreement belongs to.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Oscar,

There are basically two scenarios.

  1. The first is when you associate a Contract Document Type with the Contract Document Template.  There is a flag on the Contract Document Template (in Setup) called "Associate template to contract document type".  If this flag is enabled, you must enter a Contract Document Type.  When you generate an instance of a Contract Document using a Contract Document Template with this configuration, the system will automatically populate the Contract Document Type based on the selection you made in the Contract Document Template.
  2. The second is when you do not enable the flag.  The system in this case does not even give you a choice to associate a Contract Document Type to the template.  Instead, at the time of Contract Generation, the user is able to select the appropriate Contract Document Type for the contract instance being generated.

Based on what you've described, it sounds like you do NOT want to enable the flag on the Contract Document Template that creates the relationship between the Template and the Type.
