Hi experts,

We changes some entry files. So, i deleted master data in BPC to load data from the new files.

The deletion worked fine, but when i load data. The master data is loaded with new data and also old data.

Is there any manipulation to do on BPC side to delete definitively the old data?

Thanks.

Amine

Hi Amine,

Are you sure that you delete master data? How you do it?

Hi Vadim,

I did it as in BW. I deleted transactional data from infocubes, then i deleteted master data with sid from right menu of the master data.

I checked after, the master data was empty.

I didn't anythink on BPC side.

Thanks.

Well Amine,

It's not the right way of doing things. Please use BPC tools.

Vadim,

Do you have any document about the right way to do it?

I made some searchs in SCN, i have found some threads discussing about the issue, but i can't find the right way to perform it.

I'm new to BPC, i've been more working on BW side

Thanks.

Hi Amine,

You have BPC administration interface and here you can delete master data (simply selecting rows with shift and pressing delete):

For sure you need to delete transaction data related to the master data before. If you delete transaction data using BPC Clear DM package you will need to run light optimize with zero elimination.

P.S. Hope you are talking about BPC 10

Hi Vadim,

No, it's BPC NW 7.5. But i will try to find your option

Then for 7.5 you have administration client where you select the required dimension and press Maintain dimension members. The inline Excel will be opened with the list of members. Delete Excel lines, save and process the dimension:

Also for BPC 7.5 use the following DM advanced script to perform Light Optimization with zero elimination (after clearing data with standard Clear package):

TASK(/CPMB/SWITCH_TO_LOAD,INFOCUBE,%APPBINAME%)

TASK(/CPMB/SWITCH_TO_PLAN,INFOCUBE,%APPBINAME%)

TASK(/CPMB/CREATE_STATISTICS,DTA_CUBE,%APPBINAME%)

TASK(/CPMB/LIGHT_COMPRESS,DTA_CUBE,%APPBINAME%)

TASK(/CPMB/ROLL_UP,DTA_CUBE,%APPBINAME%)

TASK(/CPMB/LIGHT_COMPRESS,ZERO_ELIMINATION_ON,X)

Just one extra bold line compared to standard Light Optimization package script.

Hello Amine,

Your description is too vague, but BPC works almost as BW, you need to redifine your "master data" in BPC administration - > Dimensions. Here, your master data is dimension members.

Beaware that you can cannot delete a dimension member when there is data associated to that member in the model, similar to BW. Eliminate 1st transactional data.
