Portal - require stack upgrade information

Hello,

Can any one of you please provide me some information on stack upgrade in SAP Portal 7.3. If a stack upgrade is performed in ECC, BW and SRM systems then is it mandatory to do the Stack upgrade in Portal side as well? All these 3 systems are connected to Portal in backend.

What are the things we need to check if a stack upgrade is required in portal?

Also if a client copy/ client refresh activity is performed in the backend systems, will there be any impact on Portal Systems?

Appreciate if you could provide me some information on this.

It depends on what the portal is used for. If this is a BI portal then I would consider doing an SP update to the same level the BI ABAP is on.
