Reports with parameters

Many of our reports contain parameters so that our end users can input text to modify the query on the fly.  I want to open Crystal Reports from my JAVA application and allowing end users to input parameters.  Will CR4E work with report parameters?  Do need to have Crystal Reports Server for this?

You could develop the applications to pass parameters to report with CR for Eclipse when using standalone reports (saved on local disc).
