the "use" is explained very well here:

Dynamic Label Determination - Global Label Management (EHS-SAF-GLM) - SAP Library

This approach "supports" the user in identifiying "easily" those labels to be printed. The process and the set up is explained quite good in the online help (ok not on "deatil" level but on high level); so I am not sure what you are looking for
