MM01 issue

Hi experts;

     I have an issue which is little bit strange and I think it might be a technical issue rather than functional. But I decided to consult you (experts) at first perhaps I am mistaken an it is functional issue.

     When my colleague go to MM01 to extend some materials like 800025841 for instance system returns a message (Enter a material type).

BUT when I did same process on my PC I did not receive that Error Message and the system continued normally, then I let my colleague to access SAP MM01 from my PC, it worked with him. To give it sufficient investigation I logged on system from my colleagues PC I received same error.

  conclusion : that the error occur from one PC but if to logon from another PC, no problem !!!

Thanks in advance;

Best regards;

Ahmad Mahmud

if 2 users make a different experience then this is usually related to authorization.

So I suggest to check /nSU53 if there is something listed for failed authorization checks

However, I still have a strong feeling that this behavior  is caused by own developments.

"Enter a material type" is usually only issued when external numbers are allowed and no record is found in table MARA

I think it is not happening differently with two users. It behaves differently as per PCs.

In that case I could only imagine that one works with a transaction variant and the other not.

yes the issue is related to the PC NOT the user, from one PC it returns an error, with both users, from another PC accepts with both users also.

Many thanks;

I can't really believe that material master creation program is checking the hardware or the IP address.

Are you using the normal SAP Gui or others like Gui XT orweb dynpro ?

Normal one

SAP GUI

And to make more strange that on the same PC with error (my colleague's one) we realized that it some time works !!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps it is a technical issue as I mentioned at the beginning, so kindly advice for which SAP team to transfer my issue.

Thanks for your concern;

"Sometimes and limited problem to a single PC", makes me think that this could be related to the keyboard, whether the num-pad is enabled or not or Ohh instead of a zero  entered  Would really be interested to see a screenshot from both PCs  with the entered material number and the message at the same screen together with the time and date from the PC. Actually one PC should be able to get in, so it should be a screenshot from the first screen to be extended along with the PC time.

The time is needed to validate whether the material really existed

Have you checked your material type field got filled by some value when you go t-code MM01 ?

If you are extending material (which is already created in your system), then old material type will be copied in MM01 screen with the message "Material type xxxxxx copied from master record"

You will get the message "Enter material type" when the material type field will stay blank and you will press enter and it will be only possible when you will create a new material (not at the time of extend).

So please check what is showing when you are pressing entry after giving the material number.

Check SU3 parameter if MTA is there with a value.

SAP GUi options, clear cache and history to see if problem persists. Reset to defaults if required to further cofirm if SAP Gui logon pad is the cause.

Hi,

   Seems to be strange!! Ensure that you entered the same material number from both the systems. If its still giving error message for the same material number and same user ID in other PC, please compare the SAP GUI in both the PC's  along with the GUI patch. I'm not sure about the reason, but you may update the latest GUI and check the scenario again.
