CE-BPM v/s PO-BPM

Hi Experts,

We are planning to upgrade our NW 7.2 system to NW 7.31, based on your

various material I understand that PO is part of the NW components.

Requirements are as below:

1> We need to trigger the BPM workflows when there is a status change in either SAP or non-SAP system

2> These BPM workflows should be interfaced on portal in the worklist of the user

Can you let me know the recommended approach for building the BPM workflows? Is it CE-BPM or PO-BPM? What are the limitations with CE-BPM?

Thanks,

Ami

BPM workflows are going to be the same whether it is CE or PO.

BPM Workflows are basically triggered through a Web-service call (corresponds to the Start event of the workflow).

To trigger BPM workflows from PI interfaces, you just need to trigger the Web-service associated with the Start event of the workflow, from the PI system.

You can also call PI Service Interfaces and operation mappings in BPM.

Hi Siddhant,

I have few questions as below:

1> Can I trigger service interfaces from CE-BPM, or this functionality is limited to PO-BPM?

2> What is the difference between service interfaces and operation mappings?

Thanks,

Ami

As I mentioned earlier, BPM will remain the same, whatever the suite you design and run it in, whether it is CE or PO.

Refer this document to see how you can trigger PI service interfaces from BPM.

Refer this document to see the various components of PI, which includes Service Interfaces and Operation Mappings, and figure out the differences.
