Hi Seniors,
I'm just reading system refresh and have some doubts in it. My question is whether system refresh is done only for quality system to get production data or for development system also, system refresh is done.
Could anyone clear this please.
Thank You,
Regards,
Sri
Hello Sri,
System Refresh is only done for Quality System.
We will never refresh a Development System.
There will be a number of impacts if development is refreshed - the biggest being loosing all the customized codes and configurations even though not used.
The packages are never transported in the landscape so you will also loose all the development packages.
Thanks & Regards

Hi Sri,
If you know why we do refresh and the motive behind coping a system, you know on which systems it can be done.
There is no hard rule to refresh, however, it's a part of best practices followed globally to refresh quality from product.

The standard practice of a system refresh is carried out for a quality system but there are times where you carry out a refresh activities on development systems based on the requirements from the business. If you do a search on SC for development system refresh you can see thread where people have done this before. Such a practice (development system refresh) is not recommended by SAP as you end up losing the version history. Yes there are ways to retain them which is a different case.
