To avoid dual maintenance for SAP upgrade from EPH5 to EPH7, can you import transports from production landscape of ECC 6.0 EPH5 to SAP upgrade landscape of ECC 6.0 EPH7 (Development Environment)?
Will SAP allow transport from EPH5 to EPH7?
If allowed, is this strategy recommended for an upgrade project?
What other issues project may phase with this strategy?
When you try to import a transport request from a system which is on a lower release to a higher release you might end up with an error message "does not match the component version". In such cases you can make use of the option "Ignore Invalid Component Version" as suggested in the SAP note 1671989 - Does not match component version - when installing transport files. But what matter is whether it is supported or not. There are certain combinations of BASIS releases supported by SAP. You should read the SAP note 1090842 - Composite SAP Note: Cross-release transports to understand more on this.
For transports between related Basis releases, there are no problems. This applies to:
Transports between Releases 6.10, 6.20 and 6.40
Transports between Releases 7.0*, 7.3* and 7.4*
Transports between Releases 7.10 and 7.11
Transports from lower to a higher level are recommended but not the other way.

Technically you can import EHP5 transport into EHP7 system . You have to use the following option "Ignore Invalid Component version" in STMS.
Important fact for such kind of transport is that - if any transport touches tables or structures always advisible not to move - untill and unless there are no changes to under leying tables/structures.
Off course - this is your call - however SAP will recommend not perform intra release import.
As long as it not touches SAP's standard program , table and structures - technically you can move transport from EHP5 to EHP7.

Hello Atul,
Before moving the transports, it is important to run a RFC comparision between the systems.
This will ensure that on the codes/configurations ground there is no difference between the systems.
Also the transports will be successful.
Table EXCOMP might also inetrest you a bit.
