Hello Gurus,
I'm new to basis domain and to SCN.
I need to perform a quality data refresh from my ECC production system.
Our Production and Quality environment is as below :
ECC 6.0
SAP Netweaver 7.0
MS SQL 2005
Production db size is 550GB.
The production being a business critical system, we're unable to secure downtime for remote client copy.
Another approach we're considering if we can do it using last online/offline backup of production database.
It would be of immense help to me if somebody can help me with this approach including the post activity steps.
Thanks in advance.
Dhaval
Hi Dhaval,
You may look out option for restore backup from production and restore the same on QAS.
Refer SAP note
683447 | SAP Tools for MS SQL Server |
Which shall help you with post restore steps on the database.
Once DB and SAP is up you may perform generic post restore steps like
- STMS re-configuration
- Adjusting profiles
- Executing BDLS
- Importing RFCs and user master ( if exported before the restore)
- Adjusting Partner profiles
- Configuring backup
- Apply SAP license
Above are just a few of them to name. There could be many more as per customer landscape.

Deepak Kori

Hi,
First-of-all thanks for the quick reply. It was faster than I expected. I really appreciate the same.
However, is there any specific guide/standard document for the same which I can refer to ?
The reason is that the quality refresh hasn't been done since quite some years now and I'm not sure about exactly what all post-restore configuration I'll need to do.
Regards,
Dhaval

Hi Dhaval,
You can do a search and look for system copy guides for your requirement on SMP. Also, if you do google, you would get many links on the same.
Please refer:
http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/683447
You need to take backup of few thing, eg user master, rfcs, ALE config etc.
Also, If you check the guides, post-activities remaines same - staring from se06 to BDLS.

For more information about the system copy procedure, see SAP Notes 193816 and 151603.
With SQL Server, you can use backup images across the platforms I386, IA64, x64. That is, you can make a backup on one type of platform and use it on another type.
You can attach SQL Server 2000 files to SQL Server 2005 but not vice versa.
and Also refer Follow up activities.
