Padma,

The practice varies from company to company depending on their strategies. I have seen both cases. My personal opinion is that one SLD will not be sufficient.

Especially in a DEV environment the developers will be playing around the technical and business systems configured. If there is oly one SLD developers cannot play around with it which will hamper the dev process.

So, I would recommend to have one for PROD, one for the QA and one for the DEV environments. We can always export from DEV and import that into QA and PROD.

Coming to the second questions, there is nothing like make a SLD global. You have point your systems to the SLD which you want that system to use. So, if you are able to change the SLD of a system, yes you can make it.

Ravi

Thanks for reply...

Making point to SLD is nothing but...putting host name in RZ70....or where do i do those settings???

For ABAP SLD connections you should maintain

1. transaction SLDAPICUST

2. Transaction SM59 RFC Destination SAPSLDAPI, LCRSAPRFC for proxies.

3. transaction RZ70.

My scenario is

Notations: TS for Technical System and BS for Business System.

D for development, Q for Quality.

I have once master SLD

Here I have created TSD and TSQ with respective GROUPS of Development and Quality.

I have one more SLD in QA

In this SLD I have already configured all Quality systems.

I want to do Master EXPORT of TS and BS from Master SLD to QA SLD for the first time.

Will there be any problem for the properties of the TSQ in Quality if I transfer them from Master SLD.

Thanks

Mohan

Padma,

Yes you can have one SLD for all the NetWeaver components. While installing the server, the system will prompt asking for the SLD details, there you specify where your SLD is.
