Anyone aware of a roadmap for PI 7.4? I see one for SAP Process Orchestration (including PI, BPM, BRM) - but we are not currently interested in BPM/BRM.
What do you mean by road map for PI 7.4?
You can install PI 7.4 and the current available service pack is SP07.
It is available in dual stack or single stack(AEX)
Refer to help documentation for installation options and more information :

>>>Just looking for future direction of the product... we currently have java stack only. So PI 7.4 can run on NW 7.3 Ehp1..?
Not sure but we just verified and the kernel level is 7.4.
For some reason the software build information shows 7.31EXT_12_REL.
>>>Again.. I I can find under roadmaps for anything related to PI.. is only for Process orchestration.
Process orchestration(PO) is just a package of PI+ BPM and BRM ( can be installed on same/different host)
Not sure to which document you are referring for the road map.
But if your see something for PO then i believe SAP might have merged all the improvements on these three products into one document.

This is also what the the description within http://service.sap.com/saproadmaps is saying: "SAP Process Orchestration (including PI, BPM, BRM)"

--> PI 7.4 is Netweaver 7.4. From a AS Java perspective NW 7.4 is feature equivalent to NW 7.31 SP http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1850327. If you plan to go for HANA you will need 7.4 now. Else it seems fine sticking with 7.31

My guts feeling is that you'll need to follow PO roadmaps and marketing stuff and sort out things you would not need / have. SAP is trying to market PO as a product and seems to enforce that paradigm through marketing measures.
That's however my own POV how things maybe will turn out. YMMV
