Workcenter formula for Heat treatment

Former Member

Dear All,

Please find below my scenario :

I have a heat treatment furnace. Different sort of components are loaded inside the furnace through jig.

For eg., Production Order quantity is 25.  Lot size is 10. Heat treatment time is 60min / run.  (the lot size will vary , depends on the size of the component. In this case, we can load only 10nos of this material).

In this case, we need to run 3 times the heat treatment furnace. Hence it takes 180 min. But the current workcenter formula will give 150min.

Please let me know, how to arrive at the workcenter formula for this scenario.

Thanks

Srinivasan

Hi,

Can you elaborate your scenario in details. Where system is not allowing to put more thatn 150 min.

Pl specify particular transaction and field or path so that we can give you some suggestion.

Hi

I have mapped my heat treatment furnace as one workcenter in SAP.  In the heat treatment furnace, you can load different sort of materials. The quantity will vary depends on the size of the material.

But whatever the material (size and quantity), the lead time for heat treatment is 1hr (per cycle) which is 60min.

I have raised a production order for "XXX" material for 25 nos. I can load a max of 10 nos of this "XXX" material in the furnace.  So we need to run this furnace for 3 times (10nos+10nos+5nos)  to process this 25 nos of "XXX" material. 3 cycles means 180 min (60min / cycle).

But now as per the current workcenter formula, it is calculating 150 min for this 25 nos (2.5 cycles), which is not correct. I have maintained the base quantity as 10 in the routing of this material "XXX"

Current workcenter formula = (Machine time * Order quantity) / base qty / operation splits =  (60*25)/10/1 = 150min .

But the actual time, the furnace run for this production order is 180 min (3 cycles).

Hope this is clear. I want to design a workcenter formula for this scenario. Please help

Srinivasan,

One workaround could be you create order always in multiples of 10 only so that your requirement can be fulfilled as I don't think of any other option.

Because you need to sync your order quantity with furnace max capacity to calculate required process time.

Say if you have created order 30 then your time would be (Machine time * Order quantity) / Base qty / Operation splits =  (60*30)/10/1 = 180MIN.

Hi ,

Try to define your formula in some other way.as given below Linkhttp://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/b1/c03921439a11d189410000e829fbbd/content.htm

Hope it will work for you

Dear Kiran ,

The said solution by you is not feasible, as there are different types of components loaded in this.

Dear Sadan

I did already check this SAP link. But i am not able to crack, how to use this formula, particularly what is VOL_B, VOL_F. If you can send me some practical examples, with this formula, it would be helpful.
