How to access NW Portal from out side the server?

Hi,

We prepared one Neweaver System for MES(Manufacturing Execution System)

on SAP NW 7.3 ehp1 environment and the installation and post-steps were

completed and we are able to accessing the system within the server by

using http://<hostname>:50000/NWA and for MII we use

http://<hostname>:50000/XMII and ME

http://<hostname>:50000/manufacturing/index.jsp , everything is fine

here

at Server Level.

But while we trying to accessing it from outside the server its not evenpossible, we assigned one public ip to the server and opened the

firewall

at server level(i.e Disable the firewall settings) and created one sub

domain for the ip(public ip which is assigned to the server) as

<sid>.domain.com but no one working.

Could you please help us to get this error fixed,Appreciate your time and help.

Regards,

Chandrababu Katta

Hi Chandra,

1st of all, to check where is the problem, you should do some basic network test.

Try to do trace route and ping using public IP and host name.

If you local IP and public IP are binded correctly, then you be able to access web pages using IP.

Also, how about name resolution and ports. Have you worked on that part ?

You should check more on this with your network team.

Since you are using AWS, you may refer the network requirements in below notes:

1656250 - SAP on AWS: Support prerequisites

End-user access to the application should be routed through your company's intranet and the Amazon VPC tunnel to the applications hosted in AWS. This way, the network and other security policies defined for on-premises applications are extended to the application in the AWS cloud.

Hi Chandrababu,

1) Are you in the same network like SAP server ?

2) What is the error you get while opening http://<hostname>:50000/XMII  from desktop ?

3) Please check whether you can ping the IP address and hostname of MII server from your desktop ?

If not then ask your network team to help you fix the issue.

Hi Deepak,

The server which we running is on aws cloud and now i'm trying to access it from my desktop, the IP asiigned to the server is a Public ip, we are able to connect the server by using remote desktop connection using by the public ip and while trying to access http://<hostname>:50000/XMII from my pc the follwoing errors comes to end

The connection has timed out

The server at www.mesdev.com is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.

If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

We are unable to ping the IP and Hostname of the MII Server, its also stating "Request TimeOut for IP" and "Ping request could not find host <hostname>.Please check the name and try again" for Pinging host name.

We don;t have any specific N/W team to contact, can you please help me any other way to solve it.

Hi Chandrababu,

In order to access SAP systems on Cloud , suggestion would be to install a web dispatcher server + Sap router in the AWS cloud which has public IP. These public IPs will be internally NAT to AQ

From your company network or home network you may use Web dispatcher URL to connect to Portal.

OR

You can have dedicated VPN link created between AWS cloud network and company network. This will enable you to access the SAP systems like within your LAN network.

Refer to archicecture diagram below

Is any help by disassociating the public ip ?,by disassociating the public ip , i can  bale to ping the private ip which associated to the instance and was able to connect by http://<privateip>:50000.

In previous we even not able to connect the portal by http://<publicip>:50000/NWA.

So installing a web dispatcher would work for this?

Hi Chandra,

If you can connect via private IP why do you need a public IP for your instance.

In case you plan for Web dispatcher, assign the public IP to Webdispatcher . This should divert the requests to private IP of Portal.

Hi Chandra,

Please enable web dispatcher and assign public IP to the same. You may discuss the same with AWS team on required NAT from public IP to private IP.

Hi Deepak,

Thanks for the update!., I installed web dispatcher and do we need to create a service for WebDispatcher manually? , If it how?

And also can you please explore how to enable Web Dispatcher and what is NAT? you mentioned in "with AWS team on required NAT from public IP to private IP."
