Material Price Update

Dear Experts,

Our client has one requirement;

We have A Pair material for which BOM & Routing has been maintained. When we execute cost run for the same material system updates the price with standard cost.

For this A Pair Material, we have another associated B Pair Material in the system for which no BOM and Routing has been maintained.What we want that we when we run cost estimate of A pair material, system will update standard price of B Pair material as well with same price.

Can this be achieved,need your fruitful suggestions.

Dear Mr. Waqas,

Please post this question in Controlling area because this thing is totally relating to costing. Their is no such customizing in PP area. I think it is possible in controlling area by creating costing variant withou quantity structure or by using reference material in KKPAN.

Hi Waqas,

If the material code is different for A and B as well if there is no relation with B and A(Linked via BOM), then price will not be updated for B. Only standard price of A will be  updated on cost run.

Hi,

Both via BOM and routing link has to be done. But if B is not a part of A and entirely different material then why you will link with BOM?

Better maintain a standard price in material master in costing 2 view.

Another suggestion. If B is a low grade material I am sure you are producing it. It may be with customized material type. Its better you maintain BOM and routing for that also.

Not sure how much doubt I am able to clear it out.

One clarification. What do you mean by associated material?

If B is a component of A, then B's price will be updated at the time of price update of B (may be it is in Moving ang price). At the time of cost run of A, only A's price will be calculated if it is individual run.But if it collective run, cost estimate for B will be calculated. It considers the hierarchy.

Dear Krish,

We have One Finished Good Lets say Bicycle, One having good quality we are declaring it as A Pair and one having a little bit less quality we are keeping it as B Pair in the system. So We have two products categorized as A Pair and B Pair in the system with standard price with different material number.

A Pair is FERT while B Pair is customized material type.

A Pair has BOM and Routing while B Pair with customized movement type has no BOM and Routing.

When we run cost estimate of A Pair material is there any function so B Pair material is updated with same standard price........
