restrict Class assignment

Hello Experts,

We have a material class (class type 001), which we don't want use any more. But there are still material numbers which are assigned to this class.

My question is, how can I restrict users now from assigning material numbers in this class.

To anyone looking for a solution to the same requirement, in CL02 the authorization groups can be maintained individually for each class in the 'Basic data' Tab in the 'Classification' field in the Authorizations box. In case the Classification field is left blank, every user is allowed to assign objects to the class. To restrict the assignment to specific users, a user group's name must be added manually to the classification authorization field in CL02. The assigned user group should only contain the list of users that must be able to assign objects to the class.
